Wellbeing & Mental Health

Over the coming months we will be developing this section of our website to include useful and practical information that can be used to support your child’s wellbeing and mental health.

If you have any concerns relating to your child’s wellbeing and/or mental health, please communicate these to their class teacher.

We strongly encourage parents and carers to make school aware of any concerns about your child's mental health and wellbeing as soon as these arise so that timely support and/or advice can be provided.

As a regular point of contact via the school diary and regular calls home, your child's teacher would be a good person to raise any initial concerns with and they can signpost the support provided by school or direct you to member of staff best positioned to offer support and/or advice. Equally you can contact the school via reception and request to meet with the school's Child and Family Officer, SENCo or Behaviour and Attitudes Lead.

Through the 2022/23 academic year the school will be running drop-ins and workshops with our Play Therapist and Mental Health Support Team practitioner. The school will notify all parents and carers of the details around these closer to the time.

The school have a link worker from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), who meets with the school regularly to support our mental health strategy. They also triage referrals for specific mental health issues our pupils may need support with.

If you have concern or require support around your child's mental health, please contact the school's Senior Mental Health Lead via the school office.

Additional information about the Lincolnshire MHST can be found here.

Our MHST worker, Ben, has taken the time to introduce himself below:

Hi

My name is Ben and I’m just writing a short introduction to share a bit about me and my role as an NHS Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) working closely with schools to promote children’s positive mental health, what we can do to help, and how parents/ carers can do to help us to promote better mental wellbeing for young people.

Work history: I started my work initially in sport and leadership but wanted to focus more working with children in need, as I found being a teenager tricky at times. Since then, I have worked in most sectors of health and social care,- firstly in children’s residential housing, substance misuse treatment, youth offending (YOS) and later in mental health.

My role: EMHP’s work closely with schools to undertake one to one session with children and young people, offer advice and guidance for school staff, provide workshops in school and also consult with parents and carers on children's mental health needs.

Interests: Walking, music, films and outdoor sports, scuba diving, health and fitness.

Favourite food: Thai and roast dinners.

Favourite film: Jaws

Favourite song: Imagine (John Lennon).

The list of websites below can be used to access information, advice or support on how to help with your child's mental health and emotional wellbeing.

We will extend and develop this list over the coming months to include links to resources and information to common challenges raised by our young people, parents and carers.
