Hello Everyone
Welcome to our class page, we will update the page as often as possible with some of the exciting things we have done in class! In our class we love to make learning fun and engaging so be sure to check back regularly as we will be sharing lots of fantastic learning, work and play that have taken place over the term.
Useful Information
Our homework goes out on a Friday, and it is to be returned to school the following Thursday. Don’t worry if you are finding it tricky to complete at home or run out of time, there will always been time in class that you can complete it if needed.
PE
This term we will be going swimming every Thursday, please ensure your child brings in a swimming kit and towel. If you wish we can keep the swimming kits in school for the term and we can wash them after each swimming session.
Book Focus
This term our book focus is The True story of the three little pigs.
English
This term we will be looking at The true story of the three little pigs. We will be exploring the story and it's similarities and differences between the different stories that have been retold. We will be doing some acting out around the story, creating some Newspaper reports and many other fun and exciting lessons.
Today we retold the Three Little Pigs story from memory. We then acted out the story using objects.
This week's big independent write was Bonfire Night themed. Take a look at some of the things we had to help inspire our writing!
Maths
In maths we are working on a range of skills from arithmetic, geometry, measure and reasoning.
In Arithmetic we have been looking at partitioning numbers, finding fractions of amounts, adding, subtracting and counting in groups.
In Geometry we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and learning some of their properties.
In Measures we have been ordering in size and weight, estimating and measuring heights using different units of measure.
Our maths lessons are always fun! We do some great maths starters where we get up and about whilst counting in ones, twos, fives and tens.
We also enjoy using Sumdog to practice our skills and check what we have learnt.
Science
This term in Science we are learning about electricity.
This week we have explored making a circuit to light up a bulb.
We have planned a scientific enquiry which will lead our science from this point.
We have discussed conductors and insulators and talked about what types of different materials we would like to test.

Topic
Music
Mrs Benson is in class on a Thursday morning to teach us Music. We are learning to recognise beat and rhythm within music and will be working towards creating a piece of music linked to the True story of the Three Little Pigs.
Art/ Textiles
This term we will be exploring different fabrics and will be working towards making a sock puppet. We will upload pictures as we go.
Geography
This term we will be exploring human and physical features of different countries around the world.
RE
Diwali Day
Today we had a visitor in school to teach us about Diwali, we were able to dress up and learn some traditional Indian dances. We also looked at creating some symmetrical print patterns using paint. Then we did a fun science experiment making Fireworks in a bottle, as during Diwali celebrations fireworks are often used.
Topic
In our Topic lessons we have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons and about how life was for them. We have looked at food, housing, transport and we even did our own archaeological dig to uncover treasure!
In our Art lessons we have learnt about the artist Frida Kahlo, we spent time looking at her style of art and how she showed what she was feeling through her art work.
