The class team is Miss Owen-Smith, Miss Senior, Mrs Clayton (Class teacher) and Miss Merrix.
A bit about Our Amazing Team!
Our classroom is full of fun, laughter and exciting learning adventures, and our staff love getting involved too!
Miss Owen-Smith is the queen of all things messy play! She loves getting creative with paint, glue, glitter and crafts, and you’ll often find her encouraging everyone to explore and have fun. She also enjoys outdoor play, where she joins in with games, adventures and lots of fresh-air fun.
Miss Senior is a huge dog lover and is always happy to chat about furry friends! She loves eating cheese and is very competitive when it comes to board games. If you challenge her to a game, be prepared—she always tries her very best to win!
Miss Merrix loves being active and enjoys all kinds of sports. Whether she’s playing football, a game of catch or joining in with playground games, she loves helping everyone stay active, have fun and work together as a team.
Mrs Clayton loves to join in with role-play games. Her favourite games are playing shops, cafés and other pretend adventures. She also enjoys listening to music and loves talking about her cheeky dog, Ziggi!
Literacy
Autumn Term
During the Autumn Term, we will be exploring 2 different texts. We will look at Whatever Next by Jill Murphy and Emma Jane's Aeroplane by Katie Haworth.
We will be exploring how to write shape poems, instructions and begin to explore story retelling and writing. Throughout the term we will begin to look at our phonics and how we can use the skills learnt in our writing.
Maths
Autumn Term
During the Autumn term in Maths we will be exploring numbers, looking at finding them, subitising and representing them. We will begin to explore different measures, patterns and shapes.
Science
Autumn Term
We will learn about animals and humans. We look at identifying and naming animals, describing and comparing animals. We will learn about the part of our body and our senses.
We will explore materials, looking at what objects are made off, identify and name everyday materials, look at physical properties of materials and compare/group these.
PE
This half term we will be focusing on movement skills and following instructions and our PE lesson will take place (TBC) each week.
Children will need to bring:
- white PE t-shirt
- black shorts or jogging bottoms
- plimsoles / non-marking trainers
Foundation Subjects
Autumn Term
History - We will be exploring the history of planes and flight.
Geography - We will be naming, locating, identifying countries and capital cities in the UK and surrounding seas. We will name and locate the 7 continents and 5 oceans.
Art - We will be exploring Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian, looking at use of primary colours to create our own collages.
DT - We will be focusing on Fruit and vegetables, learning what they smell and taste like, how to be safe when cutting and designing our own recipes.
Music - We will be looking at how to use our bodies to make noises, looking at different volumes, speed and patterns of noises.
Computing - We will be exploring algorithms, creating our own set of instructions.
RE - We will be beginning to explore Christianity, learning about what Christians learn about God and Jesus through the bible.
PSHE - We will be exploring families and looking at friendships.
