We are so excited to welcome the children into our class this year and have a lot of fun as well as explore some new learning.
This is where you can come and see all the exciting learning we will be doing over the Autumn term.

Literacy
Autumn Term
This term, we will be exploring 2 different books. We will look at Whatever Next by Jill Murphy and Emma Jane's Aeroplane by Katie Haworth. We will be learning how to write a set of instructions, write a shape poem as well as begin to explore story retelling and writing.
Maths
Autumn Term
At the start of the term, we will be focusing on place value where we will be exploring counting, understanding the value of each digit as well as counting, reading and writing numbers. The children will start to grow their confidence in recognising numbers on a number line and how fun using different recourses and objects from around the classroom to represent these numbers.
Science
Autumn Term
During the start of the term, we will be learning about animals and humans. We will explore how to identifying and name animals as well as how we can describe and compare them. We will also dive in to learning about the parts of our body and our senses.
P.E.
This half term we will be focusing on movement skills and following instructions and our PE lesson will take place Thursdays each week.
Children will need to bring:
- white PE t-shirt
- black shorts or jogging bottoms
- plimsoles / non-marking trainers
Foundation Subjects
Autumn Term
History - This term we will be learning the history of planes and flight. The children will get the opportunity to explore how planes of changed over the years and learn about about the Wright Brothers who were the first people to successfully invent and fly and plane.
Geography - This term in Geography we will be naming, locating, identifying countries and capital cities in the UK and surrounding seas. We will be focusing on naming and locating the 7 continents and 5 oceans.
RE - This term is RE, we will be beginning to explore Christianity. We will have a lot of fun exploring what Christians learn about God and Jesus through the bible.
Art - In Art this term, we will be exploring Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian. We will be looking at how we can use the primary colours to create our own collages.
DT -This term in DT, we will be focusing on Fruit and vegetables. The children will get the opportunity to explore what different fruit and vegetables look and smell like and even get the chance to have a taste test. We will also learn how to be safe when cutting them and lastly design our own recipes.
Music - We will be looking at how to use our bodies to make noises, looking at different volumes, speed and patterns of noises.
Computing - During computing this term, we will be exploring algorithms, creating our own set of instructions.
PSHE - We will be exploring families and looking at friendships.
