Mr Williams’ Class

Hello and welcome to Mr. Williams’ class page for the 2025/26 academic year! The adults in class this year are Mr Williams, Miss Owen & Ms Hodgson. Here you’ll find all the key information you need, snapshots of our wonderful learning, and important updates to keep you connected throughout the year.

This term we’ll be exploring the fantastic novel Holes by Louis Sachar!
Together, we’ll dive into the story and use it as inspiration for our own writing. Throughout the term, we’ll be building the key language skills needed to create poetry, non-fiction, and fiction pieces based on the text. Holes is an exciting and thought-provoking book, and we can’t wait to dig in and see where the adventure takes us!

In Maths this term, we’ll be focusing on the core skills of number and place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
We’ll work on building strong foundations in these key areas, making sure we understand not only how to calculate, but also why methods work. To bring our learning to life, we’ll solve real-world problems—such as working with money, measuring, and organising information—so that maths feels meaningful and useful beyond the classroom. By the end of the term, we’ll be more confident mathematicians, ready to tackle challenges with accuracy and resilience.

In Science this term, we’ll be exploring living things and their habitats.
We’ll investigate how different animals and plants are suited to where they live, the ways they survive, and the importance of protecting our natural environments. Through hands-on activities, observations, and investigations, we’ll discover the incredible variety of life around us and learn how everything in a habitat is connected. By the end of the unit, we’ll have a deeper understanding of the world we share with other living things.

This half term we will be focusing on gymnastics and our PE lesson will take place Tuesday each week.

Children will need to bring:

  • white PE t-shirt
  • black shorts or jogging bottoms
  • plimsoles / non-marking trainers

This term, our foundation subjects will take us on a wide journey of discovery. In Geography, we will use maps to investigate countries across Europe, Russia, and the Americas, thinking about their environments, key features, and major cities. Our History learning will bring us closer to home as we explore the important role of Bomber Command in Lincolnshire. In Design and Technology, children will be challenged to explore pneumatic systems and apply their ideas to create their own product, while in Computing they will get hands-on with Micro:bits, learning how to write and upload code, experiment with inputs and outputs, and overcome challenges in programming. Art will provide the chance to develop a more personal style, using different drawing techniques to show movement, perspective, and reflection, as well as exploring digital media to create rich textures and tones. Alongside this, children will continue to develop their musical skills with lessons from Mrs Benson at the Lincolnshire Music Service.

This term, play will remain a key part of our learning, helping us to strengthen teamwork, problem-solving and social skills. We will also continue to use Boxall Profile assessments to support personal growth and wellbeing.

In class, we’ll have a wide range of activities to enjoy. These include an array of resources like K'nex, chess, octoplay and Lego. these activities are carefully planned to challenge us to think carefully and plan ahead. We will also take part in sensory and messy play activities, giving us the chance to explore textures, experiment creatively and work together in a fun, hands-on way.

Our immersive classroom area will be inspired by Holes, linking to our class text. Through role-play and imaginative activities, we will be able to step into the story, build our understanding of the characters, and reflect on their experiences while developing our own collaboration and communication skills.

Homework this term will give us the chance to practise what we’re learning in class and show off our creativity. We’ll have activities to keep our maths and English skills sharp, as well as fun challenges linked to our other subjects – from map work and history research to coding with Micro:bits and creating our own artwork. Homework is a great way for us to explore ideas further and share our learning at home.
