Mrs Clayton’s Class

Welcome to our class page! We are excited to share our learning with you this year.

Our class team is Mrs Clayton (Class teacher), Mr Moore and Mrs Rose.

We can’t wait to show you all our learning and play. As a class, we work together to celebrate and value the success of everyone.

This term our English learning will be inspired by the exciting book A Mummy Ate My Homework by Thiago De Moraes. We’ll begin by enjoying the story together so we can really get to know the characters and the style of the book. After that, we’ll move on to our first writing focus—poetry!

In maths this term we will be exploring number and place value. We’ll use lots of practical activities and visual resources to help us understand and feel confident with numbers.

Our science topic is States of Matter. We’ll be investigating solids, liquids and gases, and finding out how materials can change from one state to another.

This half term we will be focusing on (TBC)  and our PE lesson will take place Monday each week.

Children will need to bring:

  • white PE t-shirt
  • black shorts or jogging bottoms
  • plimsoles / non-marking trainers

Geography
In geography we’ll be learning how to use maps and atlases. We’ll also compare the human and physical features of different countries, discovering how places are both similar and different.

History
Our history learning will take us back in time to Ancient Egypt. We’ll find out about the lives of the Ancient Egyptians, their beliefs, and some of their fascinating achievements.

Music
Music lessons will take place every Thursday this term with Miss Benson.

Art
In art this term we’ll be exploring still life. We’ll look closely at Vincent Van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers and practise different pencil and watercolour techniques to show effect, movement and perspective.

Design Technology (DT)
In DT we’ll be learning about mechanisms. We’ll explore how levers, linkages and moving parts work, then use this knowledge to design and make our own moving product. We will think about how mechanisms are used in everyday life and practice planning, building and evaluating them.

PSHE
In PSHE we’ll be learning about families and relationships. We’ll think about the different types of families people can have and how to build positive relationships.

This term we’ll also spend time thinking about how we learn and play together as a class. This term, we will focus on building positive relationships through fun and creative activities.

Info will be added ready for the 2025/26 academic year.
